Data Science Trends : A Consumer’s Point Of View

“Gartner predicts that by 2021, 80% of emerging technologies will have AI foundations. And by 2023, artificial intelligence and deep learning techniques will replace traditional machine learning as the most common approach for new applications of data science.”

Data Science is already transforming and disrupting our lives. The driverless car which was a dream only a few years back is already on the roads in a few countries. So what can we expect in the future? Let us discuss a few aspects today from the point of view of a consumer.

Personalization: Data Science is being used to recommend which book shall I read and which movie should I watch. It is taking personalization to a whole new level and brands are expected to cover many more services in the future using technologies like NLP, wearable devices, etc.

User-friendly: The products and services are becoming more visual and user-friendly wherein one is using a product or tool developed using machine learning and AI algorithms without realizing it. Think about the Google language translation service that you used when you visited a new country where you did not know the local language. User experience is being designed by data science and AI and, it is likely to increase in the coming years.

Data Privacy: Brands will want to target and influence the consumer by using all his available data while the consumer may not want to be at the mercy of the companies! Data privacy will become a key issue and companies would need to comply with data privacy laws of the land which are already there. Hence, corporates would need to empower the consumers what they would like to share and what they would not.

We would love to hear what you think. Share your point of view.
